Marking the entrance to the city and part of the Emile Gagneux sports complex, the Sports Hall is designed as a sculpture in the round: its multiple facets are oriented towards, and can be observed from, all points of view. Intended for various uses, the building is designed on two independent levels, generating two distinct routes, with the public pathway different from the athletes’ private access.
Highly contextual, the project is in relation to its multiple environments. Parallel to the national highway, the building sits straightforwardly and develops its facade in one piece on the city side. Other facades, more nuanced, move in spirals, intermingled with the curves of the embankments. The modelling of the surroundings “catches” the facilities and connects them to the complex and to the city.
