Unique, the site is characterized by its relationship to three specific features: it operates as the link between the detached houses and the housing projects, it stands opposite a prominent cultural building and it is bordered by the railroad tracks. The structuring of these units has to provide the structure for this mixed area. To “un-densify” its compactness, the building is divided vertically into several modules resembling townhouses, promoting customization and ownership of the premises by the residents. The facade treatment varies according to the divisions: brick in several colors is used, associated with concrete; a reminder of the identity of the surrounding buildings, it respects the site while affirming its own era.
The facade, meticulously gridded, is set with openings according to a seemingly random rhythm and with details that enliven and energize the building.
The mineral brick is enhanced by woodwork and solid panels in brushed aluminum, while the concrete is set off by wood panels. Playing with matt /shiny, smooth / embossed contrasts and the harmony of colors, the facades offer a more sensitive vision of the site.
